The calendar challenge at the
Craft Barn asks us to use bright colours this week. I love this theme and chose to use four bright shades of distress ink: squeezed lemonade; fired brick; peeled paint and peacock feathers. I also decided not to go for a 'february' appropriate image as I felt it may restrict me later if I tried to do this each month. I did have hearts and pink in mind and whilst I love both of those, I just went for this instead!
Here's what I made and you may need to shield those eyes first:
February's calendar page. |
The main background was created by sponging a number of distress inks onto card in a random fashion. In some places they blend and others they remain untarnished. The image was stamped using black archival to enable more ink to be added without smudging. Walnut stain distress was used to edge the card. |
The calendar sheet was inked to blend in and then stitched into position to hide the holes where I'd previously unpicked the calendar. The red background was created with distress ink and some script and alphabet images were stamped using the same distress colour. The edges were darkened with walnut stain distress ink. |
To add interest some pearl acrylic paint was stamped using round objects and a credit card. I rather like the way this adds a little sheen to the project too.
Hope you like this very bright offering from me today! Thanks to those who stick with me and leave wonderful comments - I will always visit you back at some point.
