Inchies At Artful Times. . . .

Just checked at Artful Times to see how much time they have left and yikes: 1 hour+!!!
I've messed around with this for a week now so I'll just put it on and hope I'm in time. No time for waffle, here's what I made and I have to say it has caused me endless trouble and I don't think inchies are for me. . . not in the near future anyway:
(rubbish photography too - all in all, not a good week!).

I made a corner bookmark using my inchie tile as an embellishment.
The card was cut then coloured with distress inks and stamped with distress. The lace is a die cut which was inked using matching colours to the card.
I originally made three of these tiles and this is the best of a bad bunch! I cut inch sized pieces of thick card, painted with black acrylic and coated with three layers of black embossing powder. Next I dusted with various mica powders, heated the tile and stamped with brilliance gold ink into the molten powder. You can't see the colours so well here but it is beautifully iridescent and probably the main and only thing I'm happy with!

The back of the bookmark has a piece of acetate attached to prevent it falling off the page.
The card was inked and stamped as previously described.
Not sure where Mr Mojo has gone but I wish he'd come back! Perhaps later!!

  2. They say it's the little things that make it special and your inchies have made your book mark that bit special :)
Thank you for sharing with us at Artful Times

  3. Hey you, outstanding job here. I know you aren't happy with it but faux cloisonne can be a real oik to get right - trust me, I messed with one the other night for 3 hours!! In the end it has created a real gem for your bookmark, which is also genius btw. I'd thought about doing a bookmark recently but it didn't occur to do a corner one like this. Love it to bits. Think it may be time to focus on doing the crafting we enjoy rather than 'chasing the challenge'? That's been my reflection of the day whilst steam cleaning the cloakroom!!! Don't ask:) Hope your mojo returns v. soon. Huge hugs, Buttons x

  4. I love this as not only is it so pretty but as a Bookworm I cannot abide anyone who turns over the corner of a book page, it is a pet hate of mine LOL.

  14. They do say beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I guess a lot of people love what you have done here. Buttons gave me some good advice recently and said just do the challenges you really want to do, so now I do and I feel so much better and when Mr Mojo takes a hike it doesn't matter ........ is it worth a try? I think the bookmark is a genius idea, love the acetate at the back.....Crafty hugs my friend, Anne x

  15. Ooh Julia its beautiful. What fab crimbo pressies you could make of these but from the sounds of it you wouldn't want to be facing something like it anytime soon. I hope your muse returns to you soon my lovely but please be assured that the quality of your work is as fab as always.
    Big hugs x x x x

  17. I think your inchie is glorious... such a luscious patina, and the finished bookmark is an object of great beauty. If this is a Mojo-less piece, I can't wait for his (inevitable) return! I think Buttons is right - I reversed my challenge pattern a while back... Unless it's a challenge that really inspires me (like the House of Bears one this month for instance), I make and then see if there are challenges which fit - incredible how often there are! But, never mind all that... I still think this piece is a wonder!

  18. Your inchie is beautiful ! At first glance I thought I was seeing beads on it ! It makes a great embellishment for the bookmark. I've been playing around with Twinchies and I thought they were small ! Enjoy the rest of the week, Shirleyx
